"Rania Al Mashat" opens the first sport resort in Egypt and Africa in Hurghada

Dr. Rania al-Mashat, Minister of Tourism, said that Egypt still has many potentials and tourism elements that it can offer to the world.

This came during the opening of the evening for the first tourist resort sports in Egypt and Africa in Hurghada.

She added that the presence of foreign investors participating in the resort confirms that the world's confidence in Egypt is "strong" and that Egypt is still able to attract new investments.

She pointed out that the new resort demonstrates the great diversity that the Egyptian tourism enjoys, expressing the expectation that such new projects will open the door to inject new investments and attract Egyptian and foreign businessmen to invest in the tourism sector.

Major General Ahmed Abdullah, Governor of the Red Sea, said that the resort added a new variety to Egyptian tourism. We lacked the sports hotel. Now we have a tourism hotel in Hurghada that matches the world's largest specialized sports tourism.

He added that the existing resources in the resort are sufficient to qualify athletes to participate in world championships, pointing out that Egypt will become a kiss for sports tourism in the coming years.

Noura Ali, Chairman of the Business Steering Committee of the Federation of Tourist Chambers, said the resort investments are worth more than EGP400 million. The resort's facilities are similar to those in the world's largest resorts, as well as professional teams based on training and service to guests.

Mamdouh al-Shishtawi, Executive Director of the Olympic Committee, said that the Egyptian sport annually spends about 200 million pounds on foreign camps. He pointed out that the resort has the potential to attract large numbers of athletes to set up their camps inside Egypt, Inside as outside.

He said he hoped that these new tourism projects will restore the tourism sector to its health before the January 2011 revolution.
